Suede Studio Guitar is a free, browser-based toolkit for guitarists: tuning, timing, setup measurement, rig planning, environment tracking, and a working notebook — in one place, local-first, with no account required. It began life under the project name FretPulse, which still lives in the web address; the app and the iOS release are published as Suede Studio Guitar by Suede Labs AI.
What's inside
- Tune — a chromatic tuner with a strobe display, a polyphonic strum check that reads all six strings at once, and an intonation coach that compares each open string against its 12th-fret note. Alternate tunings read fine; the tuner shows the nearest note rather than forcing a preset.
- Pulse — a metronome with subdivisions beyond the basics (eighths, triplets, 3-3-2, claves, paradiddles), tempo ramping, tap tempo, and the Lock-In trainer that listens to your playing and scores your timing against the click.
- Bench — setup tools: a baseline that stores your action and relief measurements, a camera-based action height estimate from a side-on photo, the fret-sprout snag test, and a diagnostic that maps symptoms (buzz, high action, tuning drift) to probable causes. The design principles
Local-first. Your data — readings, journal entries, recordings, setup baselines — lives in your browser's storage (or app storage on iOS). Nothing requires an account, and audio never leaves the device.
AI where it earns its place. The AI features (gear oracle, rig analysis, bench diagnostic, Guitar Doctor) send only your text and rig description to the model, server-side. They are advisers, not gatekeepers; every tool works without them.
Measurable over mystical. Guitar care runs on numbers — cents, thousandths of an inch, percent relative humidity. The tools are built to capture those numbers so decisions stop being guesses. The guitar-care guides follow the same philosophy.
