Privacy Policy
Suede Guitar Tuner & Studio is a local-first modern music utility. The short version: your audio never leaves your device, you don't need an account, and the AI features only send the words you type — never your microphone audio, photos, or any personal identifiers.
What Suede Guitar Tuner & Studio does not collect
Suede Guitar Tuner & Studio does not require sign-in. We do not maintain user accounts, profiles, or backend storage of your data. There are no analytics SDKs that identify you personally. We do not sell, share, or transmit any user-generated audio recordings, photos, journal entries, or device identifiers to any third party.
Microphone access
Suede Guitar Tuner & Studio uses your device's microphone for three features:
- Tuner — to detect the pitch of strings you play.
- Pulse (metronome) listening — to evaluate your timing against the click and provide Lock-In feedback.
- Suede Sessions audio capture — to record short voice memos or song ideas you save locally.
All microphone audio is processed on your device, using the Web Audio API in your browser or in the iOS or Android app's embedded web view. Suede Guitar Tuner & Studio does not stream, upload, transmit, or persist your raw microphone audio outside of your device. Recordings you save in Suede Sessions live in your browser's localStorage or your device's app storage; they're deleted if you uninstall the app or clear site data.
Camera and photo library
You may attach photos to Suede Sessions entries (setup notes, gear shots, journal pictures). These photos stay on your device and are stored alongside your session entries in local storage. Suede Guitar Tuner & Studio does not upload your photos to any server.
AI features and OpenRouter
Suede Guitar Tuner & Studio includes several AI-assisted features:
- Rig Analyzer (Rig DNA scorecard, budget rebuild, dream rebuild)
- Get Roasted (the rig-roast feature on the Rig tab)
- Gear Oracle (the Ask-the-Oracle pedal/amp Q&A)
- Guitar Doctor (the in-app chat with Dr. Suede / Johnny)
- Bench Diagnostic (the symptom-to-triage flow)
When you invoke one of these features, Suede Guitar Tuner & Studio sends only the following to an AI provider — OpenRouter — for natural-language analysis:
- The text prompt you typed (e.g., "buzz on the low E around fret 3")
- The structured contents of your current rig (the pedals and amp you've typed in)
- For Suede Sessions chord-detect requests: the chord-name string the on-device detector produced — never the raw audio
Microphone audio is never sent to AI providers. Photos are never sent to AI providers. The request first reaches Suede AI's server-side API, which forwards the prompt and rig details to OpenRouter and the selected model provider for the requested analysis. Suede AI's hosting provider receives ordinary request metadata such as your IP address and user agent; OpenRouter receives the forwarded content and Suede AI server metadata, not a direct request from your device. Their privacy practices are governed by OpenRouter's privacy policy.
If you don't want to use the AI features, simply don't tap into Rig Analyzer, Get Roasted, Gear Oracle, Guitar Doctor, or Bench Diagnostic. Every other feature (tuner, metronome, Suede Sessions audio capture, room health logging) works entirely on-device with no network calls.
Local storage
Suede Guitar Tuner & Studio uses your browser's localStorage (or the equivalent app web-view storage on iOS and Android) to remember your settings, rig configuration, journal entries, photos, and saved audio takes. This data lives on your device only. You can clear it at any time by removing the app or clearing site data for fretpulse.suedeai.ai.
Analytics
Suede Guitar Tuner & Studio does not currently load a third-party analytics or performance-tracking script. Ordinary server logs may include request metadata such as IP address, timestamp, requested path, and user agent for security and service operation.
Children
Suede Guitar Tuner & Studio is rated 4+ and is appropriate for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, regardless of age.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects how the app handles your data, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and surface a notice in the app on next launch.
