Help with Suede Studio Guitar

Suede Studio Guitar is a local-first set of modern guitar tools — tuner, metronome, bench diagnostic, rig workbench, and Suede Sessions. If something is not behaving the way the rest of your studio expects, the fastest way to reach a human is by email. Read on for the most common questions before you write in.

Email hello@suedeai.ai. Include the device and OS version (e.g. "iPhone 15, iOS 18.4" or "Safari 18 on macOS 14"), the tab you were on (Tune, Pulse, Bench, Room, Journal), and what you were trying to do. Screenshots or a short screen recording help a lot.

Common questions

How accurate is the tuner?

The chromatic tuner runs the Suede Studio pitch detector on-device through the Web Audio API. In a quiet room with a freshly intonated guitar, the needle stabilizes within a couple of cents of the target pitch. Loud rooms, single-coil hum, or strings near the end of their life will widen the wobble. The optional intonation coach compares open-string pitch to the 12th fret so you can decide whether the saddle needs to move.

Why does the tuner need my microphone?

The tuner, the Pulse listening modes (timing evaluation against the click), and Suede Sessions audio capture all read from your device microphone. All audio is processed on your device and is never uploaded. The microphone-permission prompt is the browser's normal getUserMedia prompt — granting it lets the tuner see the strings you play. See the privacy policy for the full breakdown.

Does my audio ever leave my device?

No. Raw microphone audio and any Suede Sessions recordings live in your browser's local storage (or, in the iOS app, in app storage). The AI features in Rig Analyzer, Get Roasted, Gear Oracle, Guitar Doctor, and Bench Diagnostic send only the text prompt and your current rig — never audio, never photos. The privacy policy covers exactly what each feature sends.

Can I use alternate tunings?

The chromatic tuner reads pitch, not a target tuning, so it shows whichever note you're closest to — drop D, DADGAD, open G, half-step-down, baritone, all work. The reference tunings used in onboarding and labeling assume standard E A D G B E; alternate tunings are read but not labeled as a preset.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Email hello@suedeai.ai with the steps that reproduced the issue and what you expected to happen instead. Real, specific bug reports — even small ones — make this app better. Suede Labs AI is a small team, so we read every message.
